We don’t need to tell you much about the iPhone; it’s the most popular smartphone in the world. But, just because it’s been such a huge success, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with any problems. One of the ongoing problems has been getting the phone to charge. Whether it’s with a standard charger or an iPhone portable charger, users have reported some issues.
Though there are difficulties in other areas of iPhone usage, here are the most common iPhone issues when it comes to charging your device.
iPhone Says It’s Charging but Isn’t
This is a common issue with iPhones that users have had for over a year. The little charge icon will say that the phone is charging, but in reality it isn’t getting any juice and the iPhone is still low on battery. Typically, this is a software issue that can be fixed without much effort. Just check all your ports and double-check that your iPhone charger isn’t damaged.
iPhone Won’t Charge or Turn On
Sometimes your smartphone just goes into black mode. You try using your iPhone charger to give it some power, but that doesn’t seem to be working either. There may be a problem with your USB port, or the phone may be damaged in some other way. To be sure it’s a physical problem, try using different outlets in these instances.
iPhone Battery Quickly Dying All of a Sudden
There are several reasons this can be happening. One common reason is that iPhones track your location which drains a lot of battery life. Another reason is “push” mail. When your iPhone is on this setting, it continuously checks for any mail so it can instantly update it to your mailbox. Changing this setting to “fetch” helps reduce the constant battery drain.
iPhone 5 Charging Problems after Update
Updating your iPhone isn’t a way to improve battery life. On the iPhone 5 in particular, updates have been known to decrease battery life. Try other means of saving battery power like turning down the brightness or closing your apps when not in use.
Why Is My iPhone So Slow to Charge?
There are several reasons your iPhone may not be charging as fast as it should be. But don’t automatically jump to your charger if your iPhone isn’t charging properly. First, some iPhones just take longer to charge. The iPhone 6, for instance, has a bigger battery and takes a bit longer to reach full juice.
Why Isn’t My iPhone Charging?
If your iPhone isn’t charging at all, it might just be some lint or dust stuck in iPhone’s lightning port. If that’s the case, we tell you how to clean your phone in the next step. An iPhone that’s not charging can also have a software problem. Make sure your software is fully updated to avoid this from affecting your battery life.
How Do You Clean the Charging Port on an iPhone?
If you’ve figured out that your iPhone isn’t charging because of debris in the port, cleaning it is fairly simple. All you need to do is turn off your phone and use a paperclip or toothpick to get out whatever is clogging it. Just make sure you’re gentle and don’t dig to hard or too deep.
iPhone 6 Port Issues
We’ve told you what to do if there’s debris in your port, but what about if your port isn’t working as it should? If that’s the case, you really just need to take a trip to the iPhone store and see what they can do about it. Unless you have some super tech experience, it’s probably not a good idea to try that on your own.
iPhone Accessory May Not Be Supported
You may notice when trying to charge your iPhone that you get a notification saying “accessory may not be supported.” This usually happens for a couple reasons. The first is that you may not be using an actual iPhone charger. If that’s the case, then find the original charger and your iPhone should charge just fine. If you still get this message while using the original device charger, try cleaning your port, restarting your phone, or a good trick is to turn your phone to airplane mode once you see the “accessory may not be supported,” notification.
iPhone Heats Up and Doesn’t Charge
A fairly common problem with iPhones is that they will heat up without actually charging. If this happens to your phone, try rebooting the system and then charging it again. If that doesn’t work, you may need to get a new cable. Either of those should make your phone charge like new.
Ohming Technology knows how important it is to keep iPhones charged. We understand that there may be some difficulties, so we’ve developed the portable Charge M.E for this very purpose. It allows users to keep smartphones charged so they can be on their phones as much as they want.
There are more benefits to using the Charge M.E. You can contact us to learn why its USB iPhone charger makes it a great iPhone 6 portable charger.
